The first edition of the Salone dell’Alto Artigianato Italiano, which translates to the 'Exhibition of Superior Italian Craftsmanship' came to Venice, as a unique event celebrating Italian art and craftsmanship in the heart of the lagoon, the cradle of ancient crafts and expertise that has been handed down over the centuries. The first edition of the art festival took place from September 28 - October 1, 2023, in the atmospheric Arsenale di Venezia, a prestigious location that became the setting for the works of art exhibited by master craftsmen from all over Italy.

During the art exhibition, visitors were presented with the opportunity to discover the best across a variety of disciplines ranging from ceramics to fine fabrics, from blown glass works to precious stones, and from jewellery to furniture designs, to name a few. The place that was once the beating heart of naval art and seamanship of the Venetian Republic transformed for four days, into a privileged showcase to admire and purchase a selection of artefacts of the highest quality and the most exclusive designs.

The art fair this year also provided guests and participating creators with opportunities to meet the artisans and learn about their histories as well as the creative processes behind the creation of each object. Venice is the oldest city of the future, a magical place that has preserved its beauty and its uniqueness over the centuries. Arsenale di Venezia, one of the symbols of the Venetian Republic’s history, was the ideal setting to host Salone dell’Alto Artigianato Italiano, Venezia 2023, offering a combination of history, art and culture in the footsteps of ancient crafts, within a city that has established itself worldwide for the excellence of its creations.

Laurameroni Design Collection participated in this prestigious art event's first edition, with a selection of artisanal art furnishings and some of the most iconic product designs from the collection. One of the furniture pieces on the showcase was the 'Art' sideboard, its inlay representing an architectural image—a plan where the black shadows of the volumes contrasted with the pastel colours of the rest of the project. The inlay here was as thin and precise as a pencil stroke. Lily van der Stokker, an artist using wall painting as a means of expression, wrapped the surfaces of the two pieces of furniture that she interpreted with a checkered design. The grid gave off a sculptural value and suggested the idea of a domestic and convivial vision of the artist's work.

The 'Collectionist Buffet,' another exhibited work, was a storage unit in plain, dyed, or lacquered wood with six hinged doors and curved sides, equipped with internal shelves and drawers. Inspired by the iconic 'Collectionist unit,' this new container reinterpreted its design to give life to modern and sophisticated products.

The 'Tray' coffee tables are designed to create magnificent multiple compositions of juxtaposition and overlapping. Owing to the numerous finishes available as well as different sizes, the table design offered a chance to play with materials, shapes and colours, to create flexible, artistic and personal pieces and compositions.
